Bluebird Care Career Process

Although we strive to onboard new team members promptly, please be aware that our recruitment process may take between 3 to 6 weeks – to ensure all training needs & compliance are met.

Step one: Interview Process

We aim to schedule in-person interviews for all suitable candidates, following the interview we will contact you within a few days to give feedback and all successful candidates will receive an offer letter in writing within 1 week.

Step two: DBS Checks & References

Your employment offer is on condition of satisfactory work references and DBS checks. You will be required to provide specific Identification in order for us to process the DBS. This stage can often take 3-6 weeks.

Step three: Pre-employment Training

All new starters, regardless of prior experience, must complete our training program, this consists of both on line and in house training sessions. This covers all mandatory training requirements as well as other training that will enable you to be able to meet the varying needs of our customers.  Once training is complete we will arrange an in house induction session which is paid.

Step four: Shadow Shifts

Following induction, all new starters are booked onto paid shadow shifts, this will be 3 or 4 shadow shifts where you will go out with one of our senior team or experienced care assistants for hands on experience. If you feel you would like further shadowing this can be arranged on request.

Step five: Start of probation period

Once training and shadow shifts are complete, you will have a first appraisal with the Registered Manager to ensure you feel confident to begin working independently and to start you on your 12-week probation period. Weekly supervision and observations by our office team will monitor your progress. During probation, you'll also complete a care certificate. Successful probation completion will lead to opportunities for further education, including NVQs in Health and Social Care.
