Lead supervisor
Progress your careers as a supervisor
The lead supervisor and their team of supervisors are the critical link between the customer and our Bluebird Care service. You will lead a team of supervisors to create a bespoke homecare service for each customer. If you enjoy inspiring your team and providing the very best homecare and support to customers, then this exciting opportunity could be exactly what you are looking for.
As each customer is unique, every day will be different. Our priority is to support customers to live the lives that they choose, keeping them in control as far as they are able. You must have a good understanding of homecare and of best practice in providing care and support services. Lead supervisors are also expected to have a relevant qualification in social care.
The lead supervisor and their team are responsible for setting up each customer’s care and support plan and then making sure we deliver what we promise. This involves visiting new customers, and where they wish it, their families, to create a tailored care and support plan. Together with the coordinator you will find a care assistant with the right skills, knowledge and personal attributes to match the customer’s requirements. The lead supervisor (or supervisor) will then introduce the care assistant to the customer and keep the customer up to date with any changes.
Excellent communication skills are key to this vital role. You must be able to build trusting relationships with customers, their families, staff and other professionals such as district nurses, GPs and occupational therapists. The lead supervisor has responsibility for taking new supervisors and care assistants through the induction process and providing on-going guidance, training and supervision. You will often find yourself in the role of assessor, mentor, coach and trainer.
Lead supervisors need to be compassionate and self-assured and have the knowledge and ability to model good practice whilst being prepared to challenge poor performance. You will regularly monitor the quality of service that your team of supervisors and care assistants provide and take action to make improvements if necessary.
Care assistants may work over the weekend or evenings so you must be able to work flexibly. You will need to be able to travel between customers’ homes by providing your own transport.
This is a challenging role and as a representative of the Bluebird Care brand you can be proud of being part of a strong supportive team, championing the rights of our customers.
